Easter services

At Victory Lutheran Church

You and your whole family are invited to celebrate Holy Week this year at Victory Lutheran Church!

We offer multiple service times for you to attend in person or watch online. We’d love to have you visit one or more of our services, starting with Palm Sunday, then going through Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Special Vigil on Saturday, Easter Weekend Services, and Easter Sunrise service. Whether you’ve been a churchgoer your whole life, or you’re just starting out on your faith journey, we created an Easter celebration just for you!

What is Easter All About?

Easter is all about Jesus. Really, it’s about God’s great love for people. The story of Easter begins with the understanding that over time, men and women have drifted away from God’s perfection, determined to live life their own way. Due to to this very human choice, our world is filled with the brokenness we see every day on the news, in bad behaviors, and in hurtful decisions made all around us.

But God had a plan.

It’s called the Good News.

The good news is that God has a plan for you and me. He sent his own Son into the world as a beacon of hope. Jesus is God’s Son, sent into the world to pave the way for every single person on earth to experience new life. Jesus took all the brokenness of the world upon himself when he died on the cross. But death was not the end of the story.

Death and brokenness could not contain Jesus.

He rose from the dead and now offers new life to all those who believe in Him.

This is what we celebrate at Easter.

Services

  • The services lasts about 60 minutes

Each Worship service during Holy Week has a unique feature and atmosphere. They begin with a beautiful prelude that helps set our hearts in the mood for worship. After a warm welcome, we sing hymns accompanied by our organ. As the words of the songs are shown on large screens, feel free to participate as you feel comfortable.

One of our pastors shares a short, impactful, and thought-provoking biblical message.

On Palm Sunday, we have a procession of the palms to commemorate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem before his crucifixion.

Then on Maundy Thursday, that commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples, we will reflect on those sad moments when they learned of the betrayal to come which led to the crucifixion of their beloved Rabbi.

Don’t miss the Stations of The Cross during Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil. This is a time for personal reflection and devotional as you traverse each station. These interactive stations will have scriptures, reflections or interactive ways for you to meditate on the sacrifice Jesus made for you.

We hold a very special and solemn Good Friday Tenebrae service to commemorate the crucifixion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ. This service is characterized by its progressive extinguishing of candles, alongside reading and singing of psalms and hymns, symbolizing the gradual darkness that fell over the world as Jesus suffered on the cross. It’s hard to describe in words the impact of this service.

On Saturday morning at the Easter Vigil we will have a reflective video presentation featuring perspectives from Mary, the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, Peter, and John as they reflect on what that Saturday morning without Jesus looked like to them.

Then we start Sunday with our outdoor Sunrise Outdoor Service at 6 AM, followed by breakfast from 6:45-7:45 AM, and continue the celebration with the Easter Services at 8 AM, 9:30 AM, and 11 AM. Those services are very joyful with many special songs and hymns.

Holy Week at Victory has an unique experience and impact that is hard to describe in words. We are thrilled to have you joining us in those special moments.

What about my kids?

Your children are welcome to join you in the service. We offer a special basket to them with gifts, and crafts, related to Easter. We also have an incredible nursery available to use during the services in case you need. It is fully equipped with a changing station, cribs, chairs, and a wide variety of toys and games. One of our staff members will gladly help you find it and provide you with what you might need.
